Have you ever felt the pressure of a deadline?
Most of us have.
Whether it was something at work, at home, in school, we’ve all felt that looming weight of
“it’s got to get done.”
There is a pretty large deadline just days away, and I hope it hasn’t slipped your mind.
There are less than 80 days left in THIS DECADE.
Did you have a 10-year goal? How is that looking?
There are a few quotes I came across recently that seem to sum up deadlines and how we can get distracted.
“The things which are most important don’t always scream the loudest.”
“Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least.”
-Johann Wolfgang van Goethe
Have you been got distracted from what’s most important because less important things in life have screamed louder and demanded more attention than your real goal?
Maybe you, like me, try to do 2 (or more) things at once. But then, you are never completely satisfied with how they all turn out.
“Multitasking is merely the opportunity to screw up more than one thing at a time.”
What would it look like if you became laser focused on your goals?
It sounds weird to say, but where do you want to be in 2030?
It seems far away, right? But wasn’t it just 2010???
Break down the journey to 2030 from 10 years to 5.
Set milestones that show you are on the right path to getting there.
Now, break down the 5 years to steps at each 1 year. Now we are talking about where you want to be in 2021. (It still sounds far away, huh?)
Then, break down the year into what you are going to do each month. Where do you want to be February 1, 2020? That’s only a little over a 100 days from now.
Focus on what matters.
